Dear Friends and Supporters:

#1 Community Involvement: Growing up, my father showed me by example, the importance of being an active member of the community where you live and work. I was always taught that if you saw something that you wanted to change you better make an effort to contribute your time, because you can't have influence, if you are not involved

When I have the honor of being elected Mayor of Payette; We MUST hear from our citizens. In my nearly 30 years of owning businesses I have surrounded myself with advisors, consultants and friends. I ask them to bring a variety of perspectives to the table and after receiving input by ALL; the best decision is a combination of everyone's good ideas. A perfect example of success with community involvement, are the two city departments that have a Citizen Board of Advisors. The Airport and Library are shinning examples of how citizens make a significant difference when allowed participation.

#2 For the People:  City government doesn't have to be about factions. I have seen first hand and numerous citizens have told me that they never get a chance to be heard. As Mayor, a directive at City Hall will be "Citizens First", and the functions of your government will be "User Friendly" at every level. As a commitment to my pledges, I will hold "Saturday Sessions with the Mayor"; on a monthly basis, which will be my own Open Door Policy. Local government, when done well can serve to bring us together as partners in building a better future for all.

#3 Efficiency in Finances:  Our first new habit will be "Purchase in Payette". For obvious reasons, it will be our standard method of operation. Next we will form a Budget Commission whose purpose is to analyze and construct a budget policy that encourages efficiency and prudence. We as a city must do everything possible to cut wasteful spending, including becoming much more energy efficient, and create a cost effective recycling effort in every department. The citizens of Payette deserve to have a clear and concise picture of where and how their tax dollars are being spent. Our books will be open.

#4 Transparency:  I will make it a goal of having our entire government operation available to the public - online. It will take time and cost some money, but nothing is more important than your right to be informed of your government's daily business. There is no excuse for not having timely postings of meetings that are of vital interest to the public. In the way we live today, online is the normal way of doing business and an energy efficient way to communicate with your government. I am also committing now to the creation of a City of Payette Economic Development Department that specifically works with Businesses, Grant Writers, the Idaho Department of Commerce, and other local government entities to create partnerships to bring ever expanding opportunities for employment. We need every citizen to help in spurring prosperity and job creation, I welcome everyone's input.

#5 Business Experience:  I have run my own businesses since I arrived in Payette in 1980. I know first hand what it takes to balance a budget and encourage people to reach for their highest potential. Being Mayor is a unique opportunity to gather the vision of the community and make it a reality. It's my years of working with and respecting others that has allowed me to be successful in business and my personal life. Directing our City will be an honor that I will hold as a sacred trust. I will work endlessly for the enhancement and sustained prosperity of the beautiful Lady we call Payette.
